MATT & BEN
"Laughter is guaranteed in this superior production that hits a collective nerve (and funny bone)."
-Janis La Couvée
Comedian Mindy Kaling of The Office and The Mindy Project wrote and performed "MATT & BEN" with fellow actor Brenda Withers in 2002 at the NY International Fringe Festival where it won Best Production. The hilarious play takes us back to 1996 and the pivotal moment when the finished script for Good Will Hunting falls from the ceiling into Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s grungy apartment, a moment that will change their lives forever.
The play was a hot list pick by Rolling Stone, and Time Magazine chose it as one of their Top 10 Theatrical Events. Atomic Vaudeville was intrigued by the play, in particular the moment where the potential for fame can change the direction of your life and complicate your close relationships. As AV's "Ride the Cyclone" had just started its jubilant Chicago run produced by NY producer Kevin McCollum (Avenue Q, Rent), the subject matter hit close to home.
